Lower resolution kills Z Axis

Good day to you all. Strange issue with my build. When I print a cube 20mm on 0.3 resolution it prints perfectly.
If I change the resolution 0.2 the z axis does not move. I keep my hand on the lead screw to see if I can feel it move and it does not. This is the same for 0.1 resolution

Does anybody have any ideas.

I am using a CTC duel coveted to Ramps 1.4 marlin

Im guessing its to do with the Marlin firmware. Try the guys on Reprap thay may know RepRap Forums :: RAMPS Electronics

Other possibility (less likely though) is a sliver problem. Have a look in your GCODE and see what it’s actually doing with the Z axis.

Have you tried looking at the Gcode file in a text editor to see if you can see the G1 Zxxx moves you would expect?

If you open the Gcode fole in the latest Pronterface, does the object appear in the 3D simulation equally well for all the layer heights?

finally, I am curious - what prompted you to swap the mightyboard clone for ramps and Marlin?
