Hi guys and girls!
So, I have no experience of 3D modelling and no experience of 3D printing. I’m essentially looking for somebody to work on a little project with, myself being purely the designer.
The project is essentially based around an accessory for GoPro cameras. A safer, more convenient, and eventually cheaper alternative to a current ‘solution’ that is on the market.
So basically, how would I go about this? Who can I contact with my sketches & designs? This is something I’m doing at the moment for myself, as a sort of test…to see if what I’m imagining is even possible. (Though a simple idea, it may prove more advanced as the project progresses).
I imagine this will be a 3-5 week project, spending an hour or two after work on designing & testing.
I’m thinking this would be an interesting project for a product design student or the like, something to learn & potentially assist with your studies - and if it catches on, maybe make some money.
TLDR; I have an idea and some designs - How/Who should I speak to about working on a project to bring these designs into 3D printed reality?
Thanks!
Dave

Hi Dave,
We are based in Farringdon, London and this type of project is something that we can take on. We have an apprentice working with us at the moment, so we wouldn’t charge a whole lot on the design work. We can print out as we go along using 3dhubs, like we do with many of our customers who go through iterations of their designs.
Feel free to get in contact directly.
Thanks,
James

Hi @David_Longworth, 3D Hubs has Hubs that offer modelling services and you can search for them by choosing the “3D modelling” filter when browsing Hubs.
That said, if you’d like to get in touch, I’d be happy to take a look at the project; I’m not without modelling skills myself.
Hi David,
Feel free to get in touch with us through 3D hubs, we can offer all services you are looking for in one place.

Hi Dave,
Sounds interesting. Drop me an email at marc@burntproducts.com

Hi Dave
I could also possibly assist with the cad modelling and prototyping if you have any 2D data or sketches.
Best regards

Hi Dave, I’m sure there are plenty of people who can help you but for convenience you will probably be looking for someone nearby. Where are you based?

Its not that hard to learn a CAD tool and there are plenty of good “free” to use tools such as Fusion 360 available on the internet. All you need to know is how to extrude a shape and how to drill a hole. With those two basic functions, you can do most designs and have full control over your designs.
If you really want to have a professional do it properly, you have to pay them accordingly. There are web sites set up to provide freelance CAD design jobs.

Hi Dave
Your project seems quite intriguing. I know quite a lot of friends who have GoPro or similar cameras. I’d be really interested in helping you turn your ideas into reality. I’m currently building a portfolio so cost wouldn’t be an issue for you.
I’ve has a lot of experience turning drawings/ sketches and concepts into 3D models so can help you with your project.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but if you have little experience with 3D modelling I can offer mentoring/ teaching as part of the package.
If your interested please let me know at:
kanedervan@icloud.com and we can go into further details.
Look forward to hearing from you
