I’m wondering if there are any stepper motors that might be better than what came with my Flashforge Creator Pro printer?

I am replacing/upgrading my extruder set to the Flexion HT’s, and I really want to replace the motors as well. The model number for the extruder motors are 42HB34F08AB-14. Should I get the same ones, or is there something better?

Also, the x-axis motor has had a grinding/shaking problem since I had it. I want to replace that as well. Is there something better? I’m also curious about the rest of the motors as well?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Any other upgrade advice on any other part would be nice to hear too.

What do you mean by grinding/shaking? Of all the things that go bad on a 3d printer, it is rarely the stepper motors, so I always assume something else is the problem, such as bad cable, belt loose, etc… Please look at those things first. I would hate to see you get another motor and see the problem not resolved. Just advice.

The motors are strong as well. You may find stronger motors, but the FF motors are very strong.

I use the stock steppers with the Flexion’s and there is nothing wrong with them. I wouldn’t waste the money!

More detail on the grinding/shaking! Could be a bad cable. This is common. Printer may have come with a spare. If not try swapping with one of the other cables.

Stepper motors hardly ever go bad.

I run my FFCP’s in mostly stock configuration. It’s a good solid machine. I wouldn’t mess to much especially to start out with.

You can search Thingiverse for Flashforge Creator Pro or for QIDI to find things people have made. There is a spool holder I really like but I do not have the link handy.

@wirlybird what benefits did the Flexion upgrade give? I’ve no particular problems with my heads at the moment, but if they’re a good upgrade it’s something I’ll consider for the future…

It was mainly for flexible filaments and because I just had to mess with it. It takes some time to get it dialed in but their support was really good. There are some other mods you can do to be able to do flexible that are supposed to work good.

Well, I’ve had it for a couple of years now. I could never figure out the shaking, so I’ll give the other cable a try when I get things put back together.

I’ve been on thingiverse and have an account. I’ve printed off a few spool holders, made a spool remix and I’ve even developed a few upgrades for FFCP myself. I made a corner holder that fits into that little hole on all the corners. I use it to hold all my bottles, note papers, and other tools.

The shaking usually happens when its printing something rounded or curvatures. It like shakes, or grinds, and sometimes it even jumps. I’ll have to turn the speed down real slow, and its a real pain in the neck cause it takes hours to print things that should only take at most one hour.
