Hi,

I’m using the makerbot desktop software. It works fine but for whatever reason the temperature even though I set it to 228 celcius does not heat up to that temperature it just stays at around 38 celcius. Any ideas why?

Hey HighlyAdaptive,

This could be caused by different factors so it would be hard to give you a specific answer.

First of all it could be you heating element. If a wires been loosened if damaged during a print then it would be able to heat up the nozzle.

It may also be your thermistor. This is the small sensor usually on the nozzle that lets the printer know how hot the nozzle is. A wire may have been loosened or cut again like the heating element. Depending on how long you’ve had the printer it may also be coming to the end of its lifespan so can sometimes cause unusual errors like this problem now.

Ensure you check all the connections and wires to ensure there are no problems causing any part of the circuit to be incomplete.

If this doesn’t help get in contact with the company the printers from. They should put you through to a repair department who will either tell you what to do to resolve the problem or may ask that you send the printer to them for fault finding.

I just sent my printer (Da Vinci AiO) the other day. They offered a free pickup, repair and drop off. Your printer company may do the same as long as it’s still in warranty.

Hope this helps

Hi @301584 have you checked the machine itself to make sure there are no problems with wiring, etc. as @GIFT3D suggested? Probably the easiest way to do this is to load a small print job onto the SD card and print from there, if the temps all work via SD, it’s unlikely the problem is in the printer.

Has the software worked previously with this machine?

Jon

Probably redundant but have you tried to pre-heat directly on the machine? This could eliminate mechanical issues most likely.

Make sure you are using an older version of makerbot desktop, or abandon it completely.

Flashforge now has flashprint software, designed specifically for your printer.

Makerbot has in the last year added things to their software that moves it away from non makerbot printers.

At least test with flashprint software, this will tell you if you have a hardware vrs. software issue.
