On the D wire of the Monoprice Makerselect v2, after assembly, one of the wires seemed broken. All three axis work fine, but when I try to home the axis, x and y work fine. When it reaches z, however, the extruder goes down (doesn’t hit print bed) all the way but then the motors try to continue and they start to click. This clicking continues, we tried seeing if it the printer would stop by letting it “click” for 30 seconds, but to no avail.

It would be great if someone told me how to re-attach the wire, or at least tell me how to manually home the z axis. I could just return it, if that’s the only option…

Any help is appreciated

PS. extrudes fine manually (via the “knob settings”), but i can’t 3d print because it tries to home the axis before a print.

You can easily see the z endstop. The motor should not be clicking. You are going to burn up your motor if you keep it up. Try this. Locate your z endstop(If you look at the printer from the back side it will be on the right tower). Start a z homing session, and just press the z endstop manualy, it should immediately start moving back up a few mm, then start back down again. click it again. If when you click the z endstop, it just continues moving down, unplug it immediately. You don’t want to let it bottom out. If it does continue moving down, you are most likely correct, a broken or disconnected wire. If it does what I explained, then the endstop is not being depressed the way it should. Hope that helps.

To add to what snyper1982 stated. It would appear via your image that your z endstop is indeed disconnected. That is where that wire in your picture leads. It looks like the crimp connection broke off at the end. The ideal solution would be to strip that wire and re-connect it to the unused contact on the z endstop. One should be taken already. If you can strip that wire and get it to recognize contact in the way that snyper1982 described, then you should be good. Make sure it’s secured properly.

Happy to help! Enjoy your maker select! I’ve had one for about 9-10 months now, so if you have any other questions feel free to shoot me a message.
