US-based industrial and power equipment manufacturer Rotor Clip is to install a 4 MW on-site solar PV array at its manufacturing facility (pictured) in the state of New Jersey.

EPC firm GEM Energy said it is currently designing and developing the ground-mounted solar system and construction is scheduled to begin in November, with commissioning planned for June 2018.

The project includes an electrical upgrade for three of Rotor Clip’s manufacturing buildings to accommodate the added solar and future building electrical loads.

The fixed axis array will use 34,000 PV panels from US manufacturer First Solar, as well as string inverters. It will be situated on about 8 ha of Rotor Clip’s property.

GEM Energy said it will build much of the project by hand on the small site.

Rotor Clip is a leading global manufacturer of retaining rings, wave springs and hose clamps used by the automotive, wind power, military, oil and gas industries.
