Austin Energy Pushed to Provide 65 Percent Renewable by 2027

The Austin City Council has moved to push Austin Energy to provide 65 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2027.

The 10-1 vote moves up the goal from 55 percent renewable energy by 2025, Community Impact Newspaper reported.

The resolution also includes a requirement for Austin Energy to create models for 75 and 80 percent renewable energy by 2027, including costs, benefits, risks and potential rate impacts.
