Valmet and Solar Turbines to collaborate on integrated cogen systems

Save It Saved

Finland’s Valmet and US-based Solar Turbines are set to co-operate on further developing integrated gas turbine cogeneration systems.

The collaboration will be aimed at reducing tissue mills’ production costs and raising the energy efficiency of the production process, the companies said.

The two firms said they have worked together since the 1990s on integrating hood air systems for the tissue drying process into cogeneration.

"The development co-operation between Valmet and Solar Turbines aims at providing tissue producers with the ultimate integration of a cogeneration system to a tissue machine, taking into account different customer needs and the energy market where the tissue production is located,” said Paolo DellaNegra, sales manager at Valmet’s tissue business unit.

And Benoît Fécamp, head of global market development for the paper and tissue market at Solar Turbines’ power generation unit, said the collaboration could be “a game-changer in tissue mill energy management”.
