The 145-MW combined-cycle Holland Energy Park in Holland, Michigan was officially commissioned this week.
Siemens said the plant includes two SGT-800 gas turbines, one SST-400 steam turbine, low and medium-voltage electrical equipment and power transformers as well as Siemens’ SPPA-T300 control system.
Holland Energy Park will use surplus heat from the water circulating system to expand the city’s downtown snowmelt system, which at 11.5 acres is now the largest municipally-owned snowmelt system in North America. The system can melt one inch of snow per hour in temperatures of 15-20 degrees Farenheit.
