By Editors of Power Engineering

In another big renewable power move by a Silicon Valley giant, Facebook announced it will purchase power from the 32-MW Rattlesnake Creek Wind Project currently under development by Tradewind Energy.

Facebook will purchase 200 MW of that total to power its new Papillion Data Center. The remaining 120 MW is still available for purchase. Rattlesnake Creek will be constructed in Dixon County, Nebraska.

Facebook and the Omaha Public Power District worked together to create a new tariff “that ensures renewable energy solutions are accessible not just to Facebook, butother companies as well.” However, Facebook did not specify details of the tariff.
