Save It Saved

Sonoma County Water Agency general manager Grant Davis has been selected by California Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. to take over as director of the state's Department of Water Resources.

Davis has served as GM at Sonoma County Water Agency since 2009, after having previously held the assistant general manager position for two year prior.

The 54-year old also has experience as executive director of the Bay Institute, a senior district representative for U.S. Rep. Lynn Woolsey and principal of Impact Consulting.

Grant takes over for Cindy Messer, who was named acting director of California DWR in July, following the retirement of William R. Croyle on July 1.

If confirmed by the state Senate, Grant would immediately be tasked with leading efforts to rebuild the emergency spillway at Oroville Dam.
