The firm’s planned 7000 square metre Global Service Operations Centre will be located in Lincoln, England. Construction is scheduled to start in May and finish by January 2018.
The new facility will be located next to an existing gas turbine overhaul centre. The company’s parts and engine storage facility for its small gas turbine product line, currently based elsewhere in Lincoln, will move to the new centre.
Siemens said the move will centralize service by bringing together all aspects such as spare parts, turbine engine units, tools and safety equipment in a single location.
In addition to the new development, Siemens also plans to purchase its original 4.5 ha site on the Teal Park industrial estate. According to the firm, the new service centre and office complex “will provide a modern professional environment for customers and employees”.
Siemens said around 40 employees and current activities will move to the new site by spring 2018.
